1. Space requirement:
Consider how much space you need to accommodate all of your kitchen utensils and appliances. Also consider storage space for food and dishes.
2. Work surface:
Make sure there is enough work space available. A minimum size of 60 x 60 cm per person is recommended to ensure efficient working.
3. Ergonomics:
The height of work surfaces and cabinets should be ergonomically adjusted to avoid back pain. The optimal height for work surfaces is between 85 and 95 cm . The height of cabinets should be adjusted so that frequently used items are within comfortable reach.
4. Electricity and water connections:
Make sure there are enough power and water connections to connect all the appliances you need.
5. Lighting:
Good lighting is important to create a pleasant working atmosphere. Consider where you need additional light sources to avoid dark corners.
Here are some formulas you can use to calculate:
1.Height (in cm) x 0.56 = optimal height of the work surface
If you want to calculate the optimal height of the cabinets , you should subtract the height of the work surface from your height and divide the result by 2 .
2. Measure your own height (from the floor to the top of your head) without shoes.
- Add 15 cm to your height . This will determine the height of the worktop.
- If you are using an electric stove , add another 5 cm to the height of the worktop . If you are using a gas stove , add 10 cm.
- The height of the base cabinets should normally be between 80 cm and 90 cm .
- The height of the wall units should be placed so that they provide sufficient headroom. As a general rule, a height of 130 cm to 150 cm above the worktop is recommended.
